I'm sorry you're in a bind. I just learned today that my shop is likely going to be laying off mechanics. I'm not at the top of the list but it's scary anyway. I've always been frugal and have shaped my life so I can live on very little income. And I've been practicing cooking extremely healthy and extremely cheap since nov 2007. Another is I've gotten used to eating beans and rice for lunch at work most days. If you cook it right, it's really good. As soon as the weather warms up a bit I'm going to start riding my 60mph,80mpg scooter to work again (assuming I have a job). From now on I'm saving every penny. If I'm laid off and am not working again in 2 months, I'll sell this condo for whatever I can get (I supposedly have 90k equity) and move in with my Dad.
