Exellent advice. I let my car of 450 a month go, and bought a beautiful truck like brand new cash!!!

Very good tip. I am “barely” self employed(Architect), just scraping by.
and I’m looking for an older used car. Be willing to trade services also.
E-surance have very good rates.

When the repose your car they will auction it. You will then owe whatevr you owed on the car minus what they actioned it for. They auction the cars for nothign – especially these days. So you will have a collector coming after your for thousands of dollars on the car you had reposed. I really think twice about this – at minimum do a voluntary reposession – call the back and turn the car in as they deem. Unless your going to declare backruptcy this is risky.

Not smoking cigarettes saves money too.

I would consider getting in touch with Don Harrold, and if you have some money saved up, use some to play the stock market. Don knows what he is doing and you could make a killing with his help.

Sorry to her that it has made its way to your family. I hope your son can get through to the unemployment office soon and get every thing lined up. Good advice with the cars. These times are really starting to spook me.

Thanks for sharing. I like the scooter idea. I’ll have to price a couple or see if I can find one that’s selling cheep. My son and I own a duplex and if push comes to shove he can move into my side and we could rent the other or try and sell it out right.

Please look up George4title on here he has been putting out series of videos on his situation and he is looking positive. God bless you.

Well, one is what Boomer said, I don’t have a car payment. Another is I’ve gotten used to eating beans and rice for lunch at work most days. If you cook it right, it’s really good. As soon as the weather warms up a bit I’m going to start riding my 60mph,80mpg scooter to work again (assuming I have a job). From now on I’m saving every penny.
If I’m laid off and am not working again in 2 months, I’ll sell this condo for whatever I can get (I supposedly have 90k equity) and move in with my Dad.

Sure, they hate me in DC..I’ve suggested they give me a direct line but that only gets a laugh. Angry..no. Angry makes me stupid, I try to avoid being stupid whenever I can.
Giving away money is what Wash does the best. They pass laws that favor big corp. They give subsidies to big corp, they even pay corp farmers not to farm!! This last one just made the evening news, that’s all.
OH and the soldiers are protecting corp interest.
February 8th, 2010 at 10:21 pm
Yea, me too! Share with others one of your penny pinching (tightass) methods. We’re all going to need help very soon.
February 8th, 2010 at 10:22 pm
Favorited.
But I ask, have you called your elected officials in D.C. Demanding an explanation on how the Federal Reserve screwed us?
Why we bailed any corporations out?
Why we must maintain soldiers in 130 nations at an expense upwards of 3 billion dollars a day from China?
Are you angry yet?

A scary situation indeed. I’m sorry you’re in a bind. I just learned today that my shop is likely going to be laying off mechanics. I’m not at the top of the list but it’s scary anyway. I’ve always been frugal and have shaped my life so I can live on very little income. And I’ve been practicing cooking extremely healthy and extremely cheap since nov 2007. Now though, I’m really going to put the brakes on. I’m going to pinch pennies tight enough to leave marks on them. This is serious business.
